      Hypersensitivity , Hypokalaemia, hyperglycaemia, electrolyte imbalance , Agitation, restlessness, irritability, nervousness , Headache, insomnia, tremor, convulsions , Heart rate increased, heart rate irregular, palpitations, arrhythmia, ventricular , arrhythmia, tachycardia, sinus tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, atrial tachycardia and atria flutter , Hypotension, shock , Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, gastrointestinal disorder including gastrointestinal haemorrhage, abdominal pain, haematemesis.

      Drug Interactions

      Alcohol , Allopurinol , Aminoglutethimide , Barbiturates , Diazepam , Cimetidine , Disulfiram , Erythromycin , Estrogen , Fluvoxamine , Formoterol , Halothane , Imipenem , Isoniazid , Lithium , Macrolides (josamycin,spiramycin) Methotrexate (MTX) , Mexiletine , Moricizine , Pentoxifylline , Phenobarbital , Phenytoin ,Primidone , Propafenone , Propranolol , Rifampin , Sulfinpyrazone , Tacrine , Thiabendazole , Ticlopidine, Troleandomycin , Verapamil , Zileuton


      Prevention and treatment of bronchospasm due to asthma and chronic obstructive airways diseases.

      When not to Use

      It is contraindicated : Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the inactive ingredients , Recent myocardial infarction Acute , tachyarrhythmia , Children under 6 months of age.

      Respro Sr Precautions


      Theophylline should be used with caution and only if absolutely necessary in the following cases: Unstable angina , Patients at risk of tachyarrhythmia , Severe hypertension , Hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy , Hyperthyroidism

      Respro Sr Warnings

      Warning 1

      Theophylline should be used with caution in patients with hepatic or renal function impairment.

      Warning 2

      Use of theophylline in the elderly, patients with multiple pathologies and patients who are seriously ill and/or in intensive care is associated with a higher risk of toxicity. Therapeutic drug monitoring should therefore be performed.

      Warning 3

      In case of insufficient effect of the recommended dose and in case of adverse events, theophylline plasma concentration should be monitored .
